Audio Draft

For this assignment I wanted to use it as a way to ask important questions to people of the WSU community about esports. I asked simple questions because if they were too complex I feel like people would not want to answer the questions. I opened asking if they knew anything about esports and why they didn’t know anything. This was important to leave a baseline for any background knowledge. The following questions came to light after wanting to know what ways if there are any on how to get the word out about our esports club, and how to get the word out about tournaments. I also wanted to know if they believed that esports player or anything along the lines of a pro gamer is a “athlete”. The answers were basically the same saying in their own way.

For the creation of the file I went with my phone to simply use the memos app to record our interview. I did this for both of the people and then transferred it over to my computer. After I did that I created a new mix and played both tracks out. I listen to each to find out where the best annunciation for the questions were and cut those out. I then went and cut out the answers from both of my subjects and looked for the best answers. That is why some of the questions only has one answer. I liked stacking the answers on top of each other to make it sound like they answered the questions together, or in the same place.

  1. Hey Sean. I really like where your audio story is headed. I love the idea of delving into a topic that is not too well known. And it’s even better because it applies to your own Esports club. Overall, I like the format you used for your audio story. The interviews certainly drive the story for this piece. One of my suggestions is to make sure the interviews aren’t the only thing driving the story. A voice over could really help add to the story arch. Another suggestion I have is to tighten up your questions in the interview. I’d suggest writing out a script that you can read while you record your final audio story, so it might sound cleaner and tighter. Overall though I’m really excited to see the final piece. This is a topic I’m not very familiar with so I’m excited to learn more.

  2. I was in your group for the logo project and I talked about people not really knowing about Esports so to see that you interviewed different students about Esports is cool to see who knows about Esports and what they think about Esports. I have a couple of suggestions to help improve your audio story. The first suggestion I have is that you should make an introduction to your audio story whether it just be you saying what your audio story is or just music that way your audio story doesn’t start so abruptly. The second suggestion I have is to try to edit out the ums and pauses from the interviewees because this could help not make your audio story so lengthy and make it to where if you wanted to add in more pieces or audio to your story you can because you have that extra time without going over the time limit. Overall good idea for your audio story and best of luck on your final audio story.
